As U.S. Special Forces advisors, ARVN (Army of the Republic of Vietnam) troops, and other units operated in dense tropical environments, it became clear that standard-issue camouflage patterns were ineffective in the thick jungles of Vietnam and Laos.Early versions of Tiger Stripe were based on French Lizard Pattern camo, left behind from France’s Indochina campaign.
